BCS Nightmare

This is the worst case scenario for BCS pollsters.
Mon, Jan 7 BCS Championship Texas VS Alabama
Thu, Jan 3 Orange Maryland VS Rutgers
Wed, Jan 2 Fiesta Missouri VS Boise St
Tue, Jan 1 Sugar Florida VS Utah
Tue, Jan 1 Rose Oregon St VS Penn St

SEC
Florida loses to Florida St, and then beats Alabama in the SEC Championship. Alabama is unimpressive against Auburn, but one loss in SEC Championship game to a 11-2 Florida team means they feel like a legitimate top 2 team.
BIG XII
Texas Tech loses to Oklahoma, who loses to Oklahoma St. Texas Tech plays Missouri in the BIG XII Championship and loses. Texas is impressive against Texas A&M, finishing 11-1 and in 2nd place in Big XII South.
PAC-10
Oregon St wins out, and is outright Pac-10 Championship. USC wins their games in impressive fashion and is finishes a strong 11-1, but 2nd place in the Pac-10.
ACC
Florida St loses to Boston College and Maryland, and finishes 3rd in its division. Everybody in ACC has four loses, and Maryland ends up beating Georgia Tech in the ACC final.
Big 10
Michigan St beats Penn St. Ohio St, Penn St, and Michigan St are co-Big 10 champs.
Big East
Pittsburgh beats Cincinnati, but loses to West Virginia and Connecticut. West Virginia loses to South Florida, and Cincinnati loses to Syracuse. Rutgers Wins out and wins the Big East.
Non-BCS
Ball St, Utah and Boise St are all undefeated
Outcome
There is no way that a one-loss SEC team can be passed over for a Pac-10 team with the same record. Even though Florida beats Alabama, Alabama stays at #2. Texas becomes #1, while Missouri plays in the Fiesta Bowl. The BCS must take Boise and Utah because Rutgers is so low, but Ball St is slighted and upset-MAC presidents demand a play-off system be implemented in the future. USC is also passed over, despite being considered the best team by many people. They play Oklahoma in the Holiday Bowl, which is seen as the better match up than any BCS bowl. Orange Bowl gets beat in the ratings by a ESPN College Basketball and the NHL on Versus.

BCS Dream Scenario

BCS Dream Scenario
Let’s start with the BCS championship game.
The BCS wants to have two undisputed teams in the final game, and a match up that will create excitement and interest. With that in mind, the BCS wants to have the SEC champ play the BIG XII champ in the final game.
Mon, Jan 7 BCS Championship Florida Vs. Texas
Thu, Jan 3 Orange Florida St Vs. Utah
Wed, Jan 2 Fiesta Texas Tech Vs. Ohio St
Tue, Jan 1 Sugar Alabama Vs. Pittsburgh
Tue, Jan 1 Rose USC Vs. Penn St
SEC
It doesn’t really matter which way the conferences go (assuming the BIG XII South wins the title game). In the SEC it is cut and dry. Alabama is going to play Florida in the SEC Championship, and as long as Florida beats Florida St the winner will have at most one loss. If Alabama beats Auburn, the loser will likely go to the Sugar Bowl.
Dream scenario- Florida beats Alabama and goes to the BCS title game. I’m sure the BCS would mind an undefeated Alabama team winning, but I believe most people feel Florida is a better team and bigger draw.
BIG XII
There are three teams in line to win the BIG XII South: Texas Tech, Texas, or Oklahoma. Any one of them is fine with the BCS, but I’m sure FOX would prefer an undisputed Texas team to win and play in the BCS championship, while they can choose Texas Tech or Oklahoma for an At Large bid.
PAC-10
The BCS wants to have USC win the Pac-10 title outright, and is wants Oregon St to lose to Oregon.
ACC
They will take either Florida St, or Miami
Big 10
Penn St beats Michigan St and plays USC in the Rose Bowl.
Big East
Pittsburgh beats West Virginia and Cincinnati, wins the Big East outright.
Non-BCS
Ball St loses one game, and either Boise St, or Utah lose while the other one stays undefeated. One outright non-BCS team invited.

Sept 27 NCAA Football Rankings

Ok, it is official.  I obviously know nothing about college football.  I thought  that USC would be playing in the BCS Championship with an easy undefeated season, while Georgia was the top of SEC.

Also, one of my main complaints of the SEC was that league was top heavy, and even though teams like Florida had to play 4 tough games, there is still the Mississippi teams and Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and South Carolina to pad your schedule (complete with the usual non-conference game against Liberty).  I guess I no longer have any idea what is happening in college football.

BTW, another BCS conference victory for Fresno State (That's 2-1 this year).
